Here Comes Gudong

LIGHTING DESIGNER

When a thunderous Gudong rattles the jungle, join Explorer Monkey and her quirky crew to crack the code. Is it Jingwei’s ancient cry, Nordic trolls’ burps or clock factories exploding? Dive into a sensory symphony of puppetry and live-camera wizardry, weaving East Asian folklore with Western fables.  Curiosity is calling – Gudong!

Here Comes Gudong derives from the ancient Chinese folklore of the same name. It premiered at Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2025 and received the Keep It Fringe Award, Theatre Weekly Best Family Show, and IC Awards nominations. Then it toured in the UK and came to China in Summer 2026 for the first round of the China Tour. Following its run in Shenzhen, Changsha, and Shanghai, it has been commissioned as the closing piece for the fifteenth China Children’s Theatre Festival at the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing, China.
